We are seeking a talented, hands-on Quality Manager to work alongside our UV experts, Manufacturing associates, Engineers and Chemists in our Stevensville, Maryland location.

 

This position will report to the Director of Operations.

 

SUMMARY

 

The quality manager is tasked with creating, maintaining and monitoring a quality system designed to ensure that Miltec products meet or exceed all customer expectations. He or she will be responsible for the leadership and management of all Quality Assurance programs and activities; the Quality Management System; including quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, practices and related training. Through collaboration with all departments the quality manager fosters a quality mindset and ensures a culture of compliance and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be creative in the approach to a quality program that is tailored to the needs of our business and be familiar with tools such as auditing, process evaluation and trend analysis to achieve business objectives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Develop, evaluate, improve, direct and document quality control programs, systems and procedures
  • Collaborate with design engineers regarding Quality requirements
  • Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput
  • Vendor relationships: evaluating quality of products
  • Implement, develop, improve, and communicate quality plan
  • Customer interface for quality related issues
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of all aspects of QC
  • Support internal/external audits
  • Conduct root cause analysis on returned product and institute corrective and preventative action
  • Develop efficient methods for reporting to management the current status of Quality objectives and goals
  • Work with Engineering on ECO's
  • Provide Engineering support in production department to trouble shoot and resolve quality problems
  • Develop, coordinate and implement quality measures for employees
  • Provide employee training on all Quality systems and procedures
  • Liaison with customer's auditors and ensure the execution of corrective action and compliance with customer specifications
  • Supervise QA employees
  • Other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in in engineering, business administration or related, relevant field required
  • Prior experience as a Quality Manager in a manufacturing environment
  • 5 years experience leading QC/QA initiatives and supervising QA personnel
  • Hands-on inspection skills and broad knowledge of electro-mechanical inspection methods
  • Experience in audit activities
  • Ability to lead process control and continuous improvement and manage multiple tasks and initiatives
  • Background in supplier quality management
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements
  • Working knowledge of CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, SolidWorks preferred
  • Experience with document Control/product data management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to listen to others
  • Ability to foster and maintain professional/productive relationships within organization
  • Strong data analytical skills
  • Familiarity with Quality Management System software and implementation
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

 

 ADDITIONAL ATTRIBUTES

 

  • Quality Certifications
  • Demonstrated Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management, Design Verification and Validation, FMEA
  • Working knowledge of LEAN / Six Sigma methodology and toolkit
  • Working knowledge of QCBD (Quality Collaboration by Design) or similar software
  • Working knowledge of CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, SolidWorks preferred
